How sticky is your website? When you measure bounce rate, you’re measuring how “sticky” your site is. Bounce rate is a digital marketing term used when analyzing the traffic to a website. Your website bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who enter your site and then leave ("bounce") rather than staying to view other pages within your site. You want to make sure visitors who get to your website from a search engine they don’t “bounce back” to the search results.
Here’s how it’s calculated.
Bounce rate (%) = Visits that access only a single page (#) ÷ Total visits (#) to your website.
So, that’s great, but are you thinking who cares? You need to because it’s important. If your homepage has a low bounce rate, it captured visitors’ attention and they visited additional pages. If your bounce rate is high visitors didn’t stay, they “bounced.” Consider how you can redesign the page to make it more interesting and user friendly? Keep in mind that a high bounce rate isn’t always a bad thing if your visitors can learn all they need to convert to a customer from one page.
Are you wondering how to improve your bounce rate? First, study your analytics; it lists bounce rates on each page of your site. Then, optimize and improve the page(s) accordingly. Need help? Reach out. @dawsondigitalgroup
